Thomas/Love SettlementBlue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana, along with 23 other Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, reached agreement with representatives of a nationwide class of physicians to resolve a class action lawsuit filed in federal court in Miami in 2003.Known initially as the “Thomas” case and more recently as the “Love” case, the agreement resolved past disagreements between the Blue Plans and physicians and makes commitments to further promote cooperation and communication with physicians. If you are a Physician or a member of a Physician Group or Physician Organization who provided covered services to any individual who was enrolled in or covered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans at any time between May 22, 1999, and May 31, 2007, the class action and proposed settlement may affect your rights.
