Member Rights and Responsibilities

As a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana member, you have the right to:

  • Receive information about your health benefit plan and the names of participating health care providers 
  • Be treated with respect and dignity  
  • Expect that records and conversations are kept confidential 
  • Participate with health care providers in decision-making regarding your health care 
  • Voice complaints or appeals about the plan, health care providers, or the care provided

As a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana member, you have the responsibility to: 

  • Provide, to the extent possible, information that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana and health care providers need to manage your care 
  • Follow the treatment plans and instructions for care you have agreed upon with your health care providers
