From Our President

There’s a saying Montana is really one big, small town. Everyone knows each other, neighbors help each other, and a sense of community is rooted in all of us. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) takes great pride in supporting communities across our state and making investments to improve access to and the affordability of health care.

I am proud of BCBSMT’s continued efforts to help improve access and positively impact our communities in 2022. It was a busy year for our employees and community outreach programs, with impacts felt from Browning to Wibaux, and everywhere in between.

Our Care Van® program returned to the road in full force throughout 2022, providing access to not only life-saving immunizations, but also dental services, sports physicals, and other preventive health screenings. During flu shot season alone, the program traveled to 17 different Montana counties and helped deliver more than 2,500 flu vaccines.

BCBSMT awarded nearly $300,000 in Big Blue Sky InitiativeSM major grants. All four grant recipients used the funds to help improve pediatric behavioral health. That was part of more than $800,000 BCBSMT invested in our communities through grants and sponsorships, with the goal of improving community wellness and outcomes.

I was thrilled to welcome back the Kids Marathon program to our Governor’s Cup for the first time in two years. More than 2,000 kids from 16 Helena-area elementary schools participated in the six-week training program, and a sea of purple-clad runners completing their final mile kicked off Gov Cup festivities in early June. The 48th running of the Cup raised more than $85,000 for the Caring Foundation of Montana.

BCBSMT employees continued giving back to the communities we all live, work, and play in. This past year 98 employees donated 3,700 hours of their time to local organizations through our Blue CorpsSM program.

In an ever-changing world, BCBSMT remains committed to connecting with and investing in our members, their communities, and their friends and families. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish in the future, together.

We’ll be there for you.

Through it All®
