Making an Impact

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana Leadership View

At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT), our members are more than just customers to us because we’re more than just an insurer or health plan administrator to them. Our members and their families have trusted us to help protect their most personal and important asset: their health. For nearly 80 years, we have stood by our members during some of the toughest stages of their lives. We’re committed to ensuring that they never feel they are facing such complex decisions alone.

We also never lose sight of the fact that our members are part of larger communities. And the health of your communities can help ensure better health for our members. Access to basic health care is only one component of a strong, healthy community. Food security, economic opportunity, accessible transportation, and a host of other social determinants of health are essential elements that contribute to individual and community well-being.

Our scale, experience, and deep community roots provide us with insights about the challenges impacting communities, and the approaches that work best to resolve them. We collaborate with community partners, health care providers, and Montana’s political leaders to help make health care better and more affordable.

From our founding 80 years ago, we’ve advanced a vision of our role in improving the lives of our members and strengthening the communities in which they live. As we work to shape the future of health care, those values remain our north star.
