BCBSMT Listed Among Montana's Top Workplaces by Lee Enterprises

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) has been recognized as a Montana Top Workplaces 2021 recipient by Lee Enterprises, which owns five of Montana’s largest newspapers — Billings Gazette, Missoulian, Helena Independent Record, Montana Standard (Butte) and Ravalli Republic (Hamilton).

The list of Montana Top Workplaces is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage. The anonymous survey uniquely measures 15 culture drivers that are critical to the success of any organization, including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.

“Thank you to all of our wonderful employees for this tremendous recognition being named a Top Workplace in Montana,” said BCBSMT President Collette Hanson. “We strongly believe the culture our employees have created and continue to strengthen is the primary reason why we have been honored with this award.”

The honor is in addition to a Special Achievement Award for Appreciation, and earlier this year, BCBSMT earned national recognition with a Top Workplaces Woman-Led Culture Excellence Award.

Hanson, a third-generation Montanan, has nearly four decades of experience with BCBSMT. She began her career as an entry level claims examiner and, over the course of 37 years, worked her way up in the organization to serve in several critical leadership roles. She oversaw internal operations, was the vice president of sales and account management, and was named president in March 2020.

Headquartered in Helena, BCBSMT maintains a strong local presence with nearly 500 Montana-based employees and five regional offices in Billings, Missoula, Bozeman, Great Falls and Kalispell.

“During this very challenging time, Top Workplaces has proven to be a beacon of light for organizations, as well as a sign of resiliency and strong business performance,” Energage CEO Eric Rubino said. “When you give your employees a voice, you come together to navigate challenges and shape your path forward. Top Workplaces draw on real-time insights into what works best for their organization, so they can make informed decisions that have a positive impact on their people and their business.”

BCBSMT is a statewide, customer-owned health insurer and benefits administrator, providing more than 300,000 members with comprehensive and affordable plans.
