Important Information about Quotes for Medicare Supplement

Quoted prices are based on the criteria specified during your search. This illustration is subject to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana's rating or underwriting and approval, as appropriate, and does not guarantee rates, coverage or effective date. Furthermore, rates are subject to change if any of the information you have provided changes when and if a policy is approved. In addition, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana reserves the right to change rates from time to time.

*Basic benefits for A-N:

  1. Hospitalization: Part A Coinsurance plus coverage for 365 additional days after Medicare benefits end.
  2. Medical Expenses: Part B Coinsurance (generally 20% of Medicare-approved expenses), or copayments for hospital outpatient services. Plan N requires insureds to pay a portion of Part B coinsurance or copayments.
  3. Blood: first three pints of blood each year.
  4. Hospice: Part A coinsurance.

† Plan F after one has paid a $2,240 deductible in a calendar year. Benefits from High Deductible Plan F will not begin until out-of- pocket expenses exceed $2,240. Out-of-pocket expenses for this deductible are expenses that would ordinarily be paid by the policy. These expenses include the Medicare deductibles for Part A and Part B, but do not include the plan’s separate foreign travel emergency deductible.

‡ Care needed immediately because of an illness of sudden and unexpected onset, which care began during the first 60 consecutive days of travel outside the United States.


Are you eligible for Medicare?

Generally you must be 65 years of age to be eligible for Medicare Parts A and B. You may be eligible for Medicare if you are under age 65, if you are disabled and meet Medicare disability requirements.

Medicare Eligibility Requirements

  • You must reside in Montana.
  • Qualify as an eligible person due to certain qualifying events that results in involuntary loss of coverage.
  • For Medicare Supplement, you must be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B.
  • For Medicare Supplement, you must apply within six months of your Medicare Part B effective date or apply within six months of receipt of Social Security Notice of Retroactive Eligibility. (You also have a six month open enrollment period when you reach age 65.)
  • For Part D Prescription Drug and Medicare Advantage, you must be enrolled in either Medicare Part A or B.
  • For Part D Prescription Drug and Medicare Advantage, you may only enroll during specific times of the year. Contact us for more information.
  • For individuals under the age of 65, at minimum, Plan A is available for purchase from any insurer during the six month period beginning with the first day of the month in which the individual first enrolled for benefits under Medicare Part B. Please nothe that in Montana Medicare beneficiaries under age 65 have two open enrollment periods, one when they first enroll in Part B and a second one when they turn age 65.
