On Nov. 13, 2015 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) implemented an upgrade for its care management system. Following the launch of the upgrade, technical issues were experienced that impacted clinical and service operations. Specifically, system performance and down time were impacted which has affected the processing of provider intake requests.
We have identified the system performance issues and have put solutions in place to restore standard business operations. While there is a backlog of pre-authorizations/referrals to process, we expect to resolve the backlog as soon as possible.
Providers may submit online pre-authorization/referral requests directly through our provider portal (iExchange). Please keep your confirmation number for all online submissions. The telephone on-hold script message informs providers of their option to submit the requests online.
There is minimal impact to accurate and timely claims payment. We have alternative interface systems that will allow us to process claims in timely and accurate manner while we work to restore our care management system to optimal levels.
