What is Medicare Part C?
Key Facts About Medicare Part C
Medicare Advantage is an alternative to Original Medicare (Parts A and B). Your medical coverage is available through a network of providers, such as an HMO or PPO. Many – but not all – Medicare Advantage plans have prescription drug coverage.
Some important information about Medicare Part C:
- Medicare Advantage bundles your original Medicare benefits from Parts A and B — plus some important extras — in a convenient all-in-one plan.
- Most plans offer extra coverage, such as vision, hearing, dental, or health and wellness programs.
- You’ll have several options when you choose a Medicare Advantage plan, including the choice of a network (HMO, PPO).
Cost considerations with Medicare Part C:
If you enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you will need to continue paying your Medicare Part B premium and any premium charged by the plan you choose. A monthly premium may apply and can vary based on the plan selected.
Other cost factor to consider:
- Premiums for Part C plans are a flat rate, regardless of age.
- Unlike Parts A and B, Medicare Advantage plans limit your out-of-pocket costs.
- Plans may charge different copays, coinsurance, and deductibles for certain services.
