It's not too early to start planning for Medicare. Turning 65 means Medicare takes over your current health plan. Start with basic Medicare, and then add on extra parts to fill gaps in coverage.

What Is Medicare?

Medicare is a federal health insurance plan. Most Americans join Medicare when they turn 65, but it’s also open to younger people with certain medical conditions. 

Medicare Part A and Part B are often known as “Original Medicare.” Extra coverage like Medicare Advantage plans, prescription drug plans and Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans are available from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana. 

 

Hospital Insurance: Part A

Helps pay for inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing care, some home health care and hospice services.

Covers office visits/services, most outpatient care, home health, medical equipment and many preventive services.
