Our Values at Work

Our core values — integrity, respect, commitment, excellence and caring — are embedded in every interaction with our members, customers and suppliers. And as a health insurer, we recognize that taking care of people requires taking care of the planet.

Taking Care of Our Planet

We continuously evaluate our use of energy and resources and take steps to minimize our impact on the environment.

In 2024, we continued to offset 100% of our electric power-related emissions with the purchase of Green-e Certified Renewable Energy Certificates.

Our headquarters building is LEED-certified and has earned the WELL Health-Safety rating since 2022, demonstrating our commitment to facilities that support sustainability, health and wellness. We’re also subscribed to WELL at scale, applying the International WELL Building Institute’s health and well-being strategies across our entire building portfolio.

In 2024 we evolved our urban beekeeping program to support native pollinator populations, hosting one honeybee hive and two bee hotels. We also implemented a biomonitoring program to better understand local biodiversity measures.

Our Commitment to Ethics and Integrity

External recognition assures our customers, business partners and communities that we are committed to ethics and integrity. That’s why we were proud to be named one of the 2024 World’s Most Ethical Companies® by Ethisphere®.

This designation, earned for the ninth straight year, recognizes a broad range of initiatives focused on culture, compliance practices, governance, environmental and social impacts, and third-party management. In addition to this global recognition, our ethics and compliance resources for management were named a “best practice” by Health Ethics Trust.

These honors recognize our ability to sustain a robust compliance program even during times of change.
