What Is a Care Van?
The Caring Foundation of MontanaSM (CFMT) works to ensure all Montanans have access to preventive health care services, regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay. Through partnerships and sponsors across Montana, CFMT provides these services at low or no cost to individuals of all ages. Efforts focus primarily on rural and frontier communities that have little or no access to health care services. The Care Team, through the Care Van program, has traveled more than 90,000 miles to deliver 21,000+ vaccines, health screenings, educational resources, and preventive services in 40-plus Montana counties since 2014.
Care Van staff does not provide direct care. Staff facilitates immunization clinics and helps partners accomplish the event goals. Ultimately, we work as a team where Care Van provides resources and support and partners provide service. Care Van is not in competition with public health agencies, but rather supplements those roles. While Care Van is a program supported by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT), it is not intended to drive business toward insurance. It is an extension of BCBSMT's commitment to give back to the Montana communities we serve.
The Caring Foundation of Montana is registered as a 501(c)3, meaning all contributions are tax deductible. Additionally, 100% of every dollar goes directly toward providing preventive services. Registration fees for the Governor's Cup go directly to the Caring Foundation of Montana as well, so run or walk to support access to health care.
